Absolute Beginner A0/A1

Course for those with no prior knowledge of Italian who wish to start from zero. The focus is on simple communication and essential vocabulary with gentle introduction to grammar.

Beginner A1

Course for those who have attended at least one set of Italian lessons with us or at another school, corresponding to our 12-hour courses. The focus is on communication and vocabulary with elements of grammar practice too.

Post Beginner A1 +

Course for people who have a basic knowledge of the Italian language and want to keep improving their fluency and ability to communicate in more complex situations.

Post Beginner/Lower Intermediate A2+

In this course you’ll continue your journey learning the Italian language and exploring Italian society. You will be introduced to aspects of Italian life and culture throughout the course using songs and short literature extracts. You will also use guided activities and exercises to build up and consolidate your Italian vocabulary, communication and grammar skills.

Upper Intermediate B1+

Our intermediate course is aimed at members with several years of experience studying Italian. The topics covered correspond to levels A2/B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. We explore cultural and current affairs topics related to Italy, such as holidays, the school system, buying a house in Italy, and more. We also use materials from language textbooks, supplemented with grammar exercises to review and reinforce some of the more complex aspects of the language. During our lessons, we alternate between conversation, reading and listening comprehension, as well as games and creative activities.

Advanced B2/C1

In this course, we give ample space to Italian culture from various perspectives. We explore different aspects by choosing broad topics to delve into, ranging from current events to history, art, television, and much more. We use original texts, articles, and videos sourced from the internet, Italian television, or books for native speakers. During our sessions, conversation is strongly encouraged, but we also focus on expanding vocabulary and revising some grammatical structures. Course participants are encouraged to produce short texts or speeches as homework and to express their creativity or satisfy their curiosity through small research tasks. Some of the topics recently covered include: 20th-century Italian poetry, Futurist art, advertising (both graphic and television), and the history of Italian unification.

Testimonials

Beginners Italian Course

I enrolled in the beginners Italian course in 2023. The teacher was a native speaker and the classes were engaging and well-structured. I’ve gone from only knowing a few basic phrases to holding conversations in Italian!

Advanced Italian Course

I’ve been taking Italian classes with DAS Liverpool for a number of years. The teachers are approachable and the learning materials are of high quality. Outside of the classroom, DASL puts on extra activities and events, like cooking classes and conversation clubs, enriching my learning experience. I highly recommend booking with DASL if you’re looking to learn Italian, regardless of your starting level.
